Talk with Omnis Group Manager Rory Byrne and he’ll initially tell you that he works with business and individuals making sure they meet their regulatory tax and accounting obligations.
But the first generation Irish Aussie can’t help but flesh out the full story.
Whilst regulatory compliance forms the core of any accountant / business relationship, Rory is starting to spread his wings and help Perth businesses to grow and achieve their goals.
“I enjoy helping business owners develop goals and then helping them to achieve those,” says Rory. “Being an accountant is much more than just compliance. We have to be forward thinking.”
“My role is very much about building relationships and helping clients as much as it is making sure ATO deadlines are under control.”
It means Rory is closer than most too emerging issues, so is a key part of Omnis Group’s team that develops services to address business needs.
Since joining Omnis Group in 2012, Rory has found himself operating in some interesting spaces.
“Structuring start-ups and helping new businesses streamline their accounting with Xero is a niche I’m working in,” says Rory. “I also work with a number of app developers on their growing needs as a speciality market.”
Rory sees how advising business owners on a different level is becoming more and more integral to their performance. He also applies his accounting and tax expertise to collaborate with Omnis Group’s Financial Planning team on superannuation to tailor wealth creation and retirement strategies for clients.
“Working at Omnis Group and with Justin is very fast paced,” adds Rory. “Driving people to be their best pushes us further and is always challenging. The variety of clients and the work that we do makes it a fun and friendly place to be. Our team makes all of that happen.”
Outside the office, newly-engaged Rory is looking forward to hearing wedding bells in the not too distant future. He is an avid West Coast Eagles supporter and is now an office bearer for the club he played for as a forward and ruckman. Other passions are fishing for crayfish and barramundi plus spending time with fiancée Jenni and their 2-year-old cavoodle, Ziggy.
Rory Byrne CPA is a Manager at Omnis Group in Perth. Before joining the firm, he held various positions in public accounting firms. Rory completed a B Comm (Accounting) at Curtin University and is now a Xero Certified Advisor and a Fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia. Rory is also Treasurer of Osborne Park Football Club and a Director of WA Rockability Group Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2015 to provide anybody with the means to increase their participation and engagement in music occupation via innovative intervention and ideas.
